Job stress

I have a very challenging class of 11 years olds who are pushing me to my limits. My stress levels and fatigue are through the roof and I am concerned my ms will progress rapidly because of this. I can afford to reduce my hours but my headteacher won't allow it. Any one with experience of this? Or have any advice? My poor child gets the brunt of it every night which makes me feel like an awful person.

The MS charity websites are a good source of information, along with checking out the Disability Act, that covers what your employers should be doing in light of your diagnosis. Putting it into practice is another matter, but you need to start somewhere. You could also see if any of your MS support team will accompany you for a discussion with your head teacher.

Hi @HayleyJC1988, I have very personal experience of this very thing! You need to ask your Head/HR to arrange and Occupational Health assessment for you. They will be able to make reasonable adjustment recommendations for you, which could include reduced hours. Access to Work can assist with transport costs, in case you have difficulty getting/driving to work. You need to be supported at this time, especially as everything is so new for you. The MS Society may be able to help. Employment and Disability law is on your side and, if you have membership, your union would be all over this! You got this, sista! :-)
