Hello

Hi everyone! I am new on swift.ms and just thought I would introduce myself. I am a teacher and tutor here in Casper, WY. I am married with two kids (4 and 8). I started having odd symptoms shortly after I had COVID for the first time in 2021. I finally went to the doctor about it in September 2022 and was diagnosed with MS by December of 2022. I had an active Tumefactive lesion on my MRI that was concerning to my neurologist and thought it might be causing seizures. So far no seizure activity have been medically noted. My symptoms, at this point, at mostly cognition related. I will be working with a speech therapist to get some help with the issues I have been having. I was able to start Vumerity a week ago and am hopeful I won't have any more progression for a long time.

Welcome :) I remember feeling very overwhelmed and shocked when I was diagnosed with MS. Give yourself the time you need to process it and try to take it one day at a time. I started the Overcoming MS diet shortly after being diagnosed after an MS nurse recommended it. Before, when I ate cakes/sausages my symptoms would flare up. It would be worth seeing if there are any MS support groups near you - I have found it so useful to meet others with MS and share experiences. I also struggle with cognition (concentrating, memory etc.) and write things down on a calendar. When my symptoms flare up I can struggle with my speech too. Glad you have started treatment. All the best
