Pregnancy and MS Medications

Hi all, I am hoping to get some advice or hear your experiences with trying to conceive and MS treatment options please. Copaxone is not an option for me. I am currently on Tysabari but have been given a limited time on this treatment by my neurologist as I'm JC positive. I've been on Tysabri since November 2022 as I came off Gilenya in order to conceive. We haven't had any luck conceiving yet and are pursuing IVF. Kesimpta has been suggested as my next option but my neurologist as advised we would need to pause the family planning for 8 months (he said I'd need a wash-out and to be off Kesimpta for a few months before I would become pregnant). However, I've done some research myself and found articles saying Kesimpta and Ocrevus are safe up until you become pregnant and possibly until the second trimester. This is a difficult time for us so any advice or knowledge would be much appreciated.

Hi! I'm on Kesimpta and my neurologist said that I can take it while trying to conceive. I should take a pregnancy test before injecting each month. If I'm pregnant I should stop the injection and start again after the baby is born. I'm not trying yet but I'm planning to do as my neurologist suggested. Look at this article "Anti-CD20 therapies in pregnancy and breast feeding: a review and ABN guidelines" or this one "The protective role of breastfeeding in multiple sclerosis: Latest evidence and practical considerations".

@trinity thanks so much for sharing your experience, I really appreciate it. The article you linked is really helpful. I'm due back to my consultant on 28th June to discuss further as we are currently trying to conceive but my time on Tysabri might be limited (due to my risk). My consultant had wanted me to stop trying to conceive if I change to Kesimpta, so I'm grateful to hear other perspectives.
