Worried

Hi there, I’m new to the forum and worried that I might have MS. I’m 45 and have been experiencing chronic fatigue for several years, which I put down to the early onset of menopause and motherhood. I’ve been on HRT since 2018 which has helped with all symptoms except the fatigue. When I say fatigue, I mean feeling tired, weak and groggy most of the time, even after a good night’s sleep, and sleeping for up to 3 hours during the day, every day. I’m not anaemic, have a healthy diet and drink very little alcohol. I walk the dog for 30- 40 mins most days, but it’s getting painful to walk as my feet have started to hurt. I also get very tired afterwards. I was recently diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and have started Levothyroxine, which I’m hoping will help reduce the fatigue. More recently I’ve been experiencing aching joints and had blood tests which ruled out rheumatoid arthritis. My sister has it and so did my grandmother. My dad has Crohn’s disease, so I think there is an autoimmune predisposition in my family, but no history of MS. Then yesterday following a walk with the dog in freezing cold weather, the vision in my right eye started to change, as if objects were vibrating vertically. This lasted for about a minute. I’ve never had it before. I wear glasses and had my eyes tested a few weeks ago with no issues. Does this sound like the early stages of MS? Should I request an MRI? Or am I worrying too much? Thank you x

If you’re worried about MS, you need to see a neurologist, and if you can find one who specializes in MS, even better. Don’t worry about requesting tests, see a neurologist and let them work their magic.

Thank you Jenny, I’ll look into that.
