Insulin resistance and weight loss
Hey friends, I’m just a bit frustrated at the moment and am seeking some solidarity and maybe advice from those who have been through what I’m dealing with 🌸 I started taking gabapentin last year to help manage my pain, despite the fact that it wasn’t managing my pain at all, I was discouraged from coming off it until the end of the year because it could cause me a lot of pain - I ended up biting the bullet and weaning myself off it and didn’t feel a difference after I’d come off it tbh. My issue is that in that year of taking it, I gained a lot of weight despite being a pretty active person (gym 1-2/week and lots of walks with friends etc) after irregular periods as well I went to the doctor to investigate potentially having PCOS and after a blood test, it turns out I’m insulin resistant ☠️ the thing I’m really frustrated about is that the ‘treatment’ is weight loss which is the one thing at the moment my body is fighting against and the best way to lost weight when you have insulin resistance is low intensity cardio (I’m used to running so this is really boring for me and I’ve had a couple of gym sessions where I’ve really wanted to break something from frustration 🤌🏼) idk if anyone has advice or comfort they could offer, that would be awesome, I’m on metformin as medication treatment atm, anything that helps get things moving faster would be great, it’s been like 4 months and I’m getting fed up of not seeing or feeling results
