Which DMD????

So I saw my neurologist today and he said I’d only qualify for the highly effective DMDs if I have a new active lesion, otherwise it’s the slightly less effective treatments. My initial thought was don’t bother with an MRI at this stage to see if I have active lesions, go onto one of the drugs I do qualify for (choosing that will be a whole other question) and if when I have an MRI after being on that for three months they find anything, then swap onto the more effective drug. Anyone else had similar decisions or thoughts?

That is a poverty of thinking. Most neurologists who specialise in MS know that the sooner they start you on a high efficacy medication the better you do in the long term. See this from last week:- https://youtu.be/hkl0EnRamvM If they say ‘guidelines’ then remind them the operative word is guide and not ‘orders’. There of plenty of ways to jump you into a highly effective DMT if they want to.

Well firstly it depends on your type of ms as to which one is most effective for you. I have rrms and Iv just started ocrevus that’s highly effective for my type of ms. I was going to start Tysorbi but I have the JC virus so couldn’t have that one sadly but this one is just as effective as that one so I’m not upset devour it x
