First Kesimpta Injection

Well that didn't go well :D I was so poorly yesterday after the injection šŸ™ I had my injection about 10.30am and within an hour, I had a headache. The nurse told me to take two paracetamol. A couple of hours later, I could hear a whoosing heart beat in my ear and I thought that it was a part of my headache which was getting worse. Then I started to feel really weak and although my body was getting warmer and warmer, I was shaking. I laid down on the sofa with a blanket. I was laid there chilling out and my apple watch bleeped to say that my resting heart beat was 116. It's normally low 80s so I was a little worried. I kept periodically checking and when it crept up to 124, I called the nurse who came to do the injection. She said that it was tachycardia and it is a rare side effect to Kesimpta. It is normally something that would happen with the ocrevus infusion and that isn't too common. She told me to rest, keep taking paracetamol and call an ambulance if I couldn't get my heart rate down. I put myself to bed under a blanket and a quilt, plus I had a hot water blanket. By that point, I was shaking from the cold so badly that I struggled to speak, but I was burning up. I slept on and off for 15 hours, only waking periocally for water. It never went below 110 up to 3am. Then when I woke up at 7am, it was 97. I still have a headache and my body aches but I feel so much better! The nurse is going to call me on Monday to sort out what happens with my next injection on Friday. I was going to do it alone, but someone might have to be with me next time just in case. Tachycardia is a rare side effect and one that needs reporting to my hospital - so she is going to tell my neurologist. I am really starting to think that it was a blessing that I didn't get a stem cell treatment as both the lumbar puncture and the injection made me really poorly. Maybe my body can't tolerate medicine or medical procedures? I am not looking forward to having another injection next week šŸ™ On the plus side, the fact that I became very ill, does mean that the injection worked well and killed off a lot of b cells...but it was scary and I feel bad that my kids were scared :( Going to take it easy this weekend :D
@Liiborossy

O my gosh Iā€™m sorry you had to go trough this. Honestly Iā€™m terrified about this. Iā€™m supposed to start ocrevus as my treatment.. I too had a horrible reaction/side effects from the lumbar puncture. I was admitted to the hospital after 10 days in bed. The pain/migraine was so bad I physical could not move. Either I would vomit or faint from the pain. Hopefully your body will recognize Kesimpta by your next injection and you will not have as strong side effects.šŸ¤žšŸ¼ Stay strong ā¤ļø

@leigh37

Wow hope your feeling better now, my first kesimpta made me feel very cold and shaky I remember going to bed with all my clothes on and still shivering like mad although not as bad as your reaction I was still worried about taking my next injection, however when I came around to taking it just made me a bit tired and all others since then zero side effects. Hopefully you will be the same and your body will be more used to it. Good luck and let us know how you get on x
