Memory / Speech / Confusion / Mood

Hello All - my wife was diagnosed with MS just before lockdown in 2020. She'd had issues building up prior to that. Excuse me in advance if I don't use all the correct terminology etc. She has less of the physical symptoms / impacts (he balance isn't great), but she mainly struggles with mental / cognitive issues really quite badly, and I wondered how common this was? She is mentally fatigued really easily and quickly, she struggles to concentrate or be able to process thoughts well if there is a lot of background noise or distractions. She gets bad word jumble and sentences and words get stuck in her head somehow. Her short term memory is terrible, especially if she is tired or in a confused state. Her mood (without Anti Depressants is very volatile. She isn't on any medication as her Neurologists (we've seen three different ones, two of which are MS specialists) said it wouldn't work for the 'type' of MS she has. I've been reading as much as I can, have been to my local MS Centre to spend time there, but I'm struggling to find many other folks with the same or similar issues. Really appreciate these forums now I've found them, appreciate any and all pointers or relevant info or comments.

Hello It's so nice that ur taking your time to search for other info on this horrible disease for your wife. As I'm reading what ur wife suffers from , well it's like me exactly. Brain fog, dizziness, mentally fatigued, hard to process thoughts. Background noises are a big one. Humming noises are the worst.. memory issues. Bad word jumble are a big thing for me. Sometimes my conversations are repetitive, hard to find words. Words always get stuck in my head. Moods are horrible, antidepressants ground me otherwise I don't know what I would be faced with. I'm about to go on OCREVUS. Go for another opinion. I've changed neurologist like changing underwear. I've never heard that before that the type of MS she has there nothing out there to help her. To me that's BS Take another opinion.

@BillyGee One of the many symptoms of MS. I agree with the previous comment, this is a known problem with MS and there are treatments for it. Not sure what they mean by the type of MS, either you have it or you don't. These symptoms are not just related to MS so it may be worth looking up information for dementia or Alzheimer's. You could ask to see a neuro-psychologist as well. They may be able to assess your wife's main problems and offer advice. I'm the same, easily distracted, too much noise can be overwhelming, get my words in a muddle. I was diagnosed with mild cognitive issues, but I can cope with mine.
