Good morning all I am new to this page just wanted to see if anyone else has had this so I was told in may this year I have ms the doc wanted me on Tysabri But my blood test come back with high jc virus levels is this something to be worried about with high levels they are now not putting me on this drug due to the levels and now on about putting me on ocrevus I am due to see my ms nurse on 19th many thanks
@kateeeeeeeee

Hey, I can’t have tysabri for the same reason, the doctor is aware of it so they won’t put you on the medication. It is all okay because there are other DMTs we can have 🙂 I hope the 19th goes well

Sorry to hear about your JC levels. if they put you on Tysabri there is a greater risk of PML that usually leads to severe disability or death. This will be the reason why they are advising to move to a different treatment. The JC virus is usually kept under control by your immune system, depending on study 39-58% or 70-90% of the general population have antibodies that indicate current or previous infections so don’t feel like you’re the odd one out. The MS Trust have this page that talks about it if you do want to read a bit more https://mstrust.org.uk/a-z/jc-virus-and-pml
