MS confusion

Can you have MS with no lesions? In 2017 I went blind in my right eye and the MRI at the time showed a lesion on my left occipital lobe. I dont think I had any other lesions. I also have something going on in my right frontal lobe... not sure what but something showed up on the MRI. Some months later after I went blind in one eye I had cog fog to the point I couldn't do my job any longer. Then after a full year of testing me for everything under the sun they found that I had no other disease and I got diagnosed with MS. The only blood test that showed anything was I had a positive ANA and low D levels. Today I was told that I didnt have that lesion anymore... I have almost every symptom of MS but I am just confused. Can anyone help. Thanks :-)

@tammyddt , "Multiple Sclerosis" when translated means "Many Scars". A scar is a lesion, so no lesion, No MS! Diagnosing MS is very much a case of eliminating everything else. But, there are strict criteria (https://www.mstrust.org.uk/a-z/mcdonald-criteria) that have to be fulfilled before a diagnosis of MS is made. MRIs can show lesions and inflammation. The inflammation can go down, but a lesion usually remains. Bear in mind that an MRI can't display everything that's going on. If you've been formally diagnosed with MS, then I'm afraid that's it, you have MS. But, it doesn't have to keep bugging you. Live a balanced life, with a balanced diet, a bit of exercise whilst avoiding stress. Then hope for the best. There is life after an MS diagnosis. 😉

Thank you stumbler. I appreciate your response. I had an MRI after going blind in one eye and the lesions was there and to hear it was no longer there confused me. Also what ever is going on in the right frontal lobe the MRI didnt call it lesions but did state that it could be MS...
