DVLA nightmare

Hello. Has anyone recently had a driving assessment and can tell me what to expect? I’m so cross at DVLA! I sent my licence back to them in March for my 3 year renewal, they lost my case twice and after calling weekly for the last month they finally sent me a letter saying I have to go for a driving assessment but won’t tell me why and are ignoring my requests for my notes. I don’t use any walking aids and haven’t had visual issues ever so this makes no sense to me. I’m as fit to drive now as I was before my diagnosis 4 years ago. This is really upsetting me as I feel like they are labelling and discriminating against me. I’d understand if I had Symptoms that might affect my safe driving but I don’t! I am though worried that it’s 30 years since I learned to drive and I probably have bad habits!

@slockha2 , unfortunately, the DVLA make the rules - they say jump and we say how high! They seem to have made a few mistakes with your renewal and they are now following procedure. It'll be nothing to worry about. The DVLA still have my licence. This time they spotted that I have hand controls. They now think I have a limb condition. No, just MS! I've had the hand controls for five years, so why didn't they question it at the last renewal............. Anyway, they insisted on an examination with my GP. Well, I haven't got a Consultant anymore, since he discharged me............ And, now I wait for the next hoop...........

@BULLMAN

@slockha2, I had an assessment many years ago, I recently gave up driving through my own choice. The assessment is unlike a test and they expect changes to driving style. Don’t panic.
