Building a ground floor extension
I’m fortunate that we have space to build an extension for wheelchair accessible ground floor living. If anyone else has done this are there any tips or suggestions to make it work best?

hello - not done it but wondered if you have access to any occupational therapist? they should be able to give you some advice about what to avoid? hard flooring and not carpets? low threshold doors? standard heights for wheel chair access to power sockets and so on. just a few random thoughts…possible additions around home automation? lights and plugs that connect to Alexa? integration of things like doorbells to allow you to see you who is there from a phone or Alexa etc. also window hight so a wheel chair user can see out of them
Some good advice here so far. if you’re having the extension designed by a professional, they could be referencing the like of BS8300 for things regarding accessibility. This is a British Standard so probably a little overkill for what you’re looking for but professional should know their way around this document. Good luck with it 👍
