Lemtrada or dimethyl fumarate (DMF)?

Hello! my names Lauren, I am 20 years olds and was diagnosed with RRMS about 2 weeks ago. I've been given the otpion of either lemtrada or dimethyl fumarate to treat/handle my MS... I currently feel as if lemtrada is the better option but wanted to hear opinions from others? Pros/cons? I've had two episodes of optic neuritis - my vision became very photo-sensitive, things seemed too bright and I see white spots almost in a grid formation wherever I look. At the worst point of this episode I lost a lot of my ability to see colour. Colours were dull, brownish, kind of vintage looking, apart from the colour blue, blue was fluorescent to me. No matter how small something was in a busy room, if it was blue I'd be able to point it out straight away.My vision became so blurred i could no longer see peoples facial expressions nor read a newspaper headline. I've been on steriods for a month and my vision is slowly but surely coming back! Sp is lemtrada or DMF the one for me? My apologies for any typos, my eyes arent quite back to normal yet!

@lozzaturtle , Hi Lauren, welcome to Shift. All Disease Modifying Treatments (DMTs) come with a risk, but you will be monitored regularly to mitigate risks. So, Lemtrada or Tecfidera (dimethyl fumarate)? Or should we compare an infusion over 5 days versus popping a couple of pills daily for the foreseeable future. You'll find a lot of discussion about both, by using the forum search function (magnifying glass, top left). But, I've heard Lemtrada be described as, "the closest thing to a cure, without calling it a cure". if it was available to me, I know which one I would opt for. But, do your research, as you're doing.

Hello Lauren and welcome to shift I had the same symptoms when diagnosed a few weeks ago as well. I am considering Lem as well but also looking at other drugs. Choosing a DMT could be very confusing and you might be overwhelmed with the options available, but I would say take your time and consult your Neurologist very thoroughly. I won't say which one is better but these links might aid with your decision making. http://www.mstrust.org.uk/information/publications/disease-modifying-drug-therapy/ http://www.mssociety.org.uk/what-is-ms/treatments-and-therapies/licensed-disease-modifying-drugs
