Support for children of MSers

Hello! I have a nine year old daughter who I think would benefit from some kind of childrens’ support group, where she could chat to other kids of MSers. Is there anything like this around? I’ve had MS for many years but am newly diagnosed after a raft of misdiagnoses, so I’m only just getting to grips with support networks. We have a very open dialogue about my MS and she knows she can ask me anything but she’s an only child and I think would benefit from chatting to others in a similar situation. She isn’t a young carer as I’m not disabled, so she doesn’t fall into that category. I’m in Surrey, btw.

I was offered this in West Sussex but, sadly, it never materialised and no one followed up. It’s worth asking your nurse though. I wanted it for my 12 yr old daughter but now I’ve settled into a pattern I’m not sure she’s actually struggling with it at all. I’m coping well and Tik Tok is more interesting! In some ways I’m glad I never found the group. Nice for her to just think I’m a normal Dad to be moaned at and tutted to! When I have needed her help she was amazing and we walked and camped for three days together on the Coast Path this summer. Needs monitoring though as it’s so hard to work out what goes on in kids’ heads!

@MattSussex I’m glad your daughter is coping really well, that’s great to hear! We do loads of stuff together too, we are a very active and outdoorsy family, and that really helps her open up and chat about stuff. I do think she’d like to chat to other children in the same position; interesting that there aren’t any platforms for this!
