Star MS trial

Hi friends! I’ve recently been approached by my neurologist to consider the Star MS trial which involves possible randomisation to aHSCT (stem cell transplant). I’m really struggling with whether I want to join the trial. My symptoms really aren’t that bad and was surprised when I was given an actual EDSS score of 2.5 (which I appreciate isn’t that high in the scheme of things). I don’t want to miss an opportunity to have a treatment that could stop things in their tracks but equally it’s hard to choose such an aggressive treatment option when it’s still all new to me. I’m just curious if anyone else has considered/joined the trial or has any HSCT related thoughts?

Hello There, I have heard both good and bad when it comes to stem cells. My advice would be to make sure you are doing research, and make a list of all the questions you may have. I was going to have the stem cells done, but on top of having MS, I also have Parkinson’s Disease and because of that I am to high risk for it. Research and questions are the main keys. Remember there are never any stupid questions when it comes to trials. Until Next Time ~Leo

@Lrod84 thanks Leo! Yeah, soooo many questions. I’m so rubbish at appointments, my brain seems to go blank. But I have an appointment with a haematologist later today to discuss the stem cell side of things and a long list of things to ask 🙈
