Trouble sleeping/late night energy?

Since my late teens I am seldom tired at night time and have always found it difficult to go to bed. I never go to bed before midnight, 1am and I end up lying in bed for ages before I can doze off. This can be a nightmare in the mornings as I am always tired which can worsen my mobility, so therefore I feel mentally fatigued all day at work and it's only in the evenings when I get this 'second wind' when I perk up and the cycle repeats itself again. Does anyone else have any similar problems? I know that one manifestation of MS is to have an overactive output of Endorphins at night, which is why if you take LDN it is supposed to shut down your Endorphin Receptors while you sleep (allegedly). Sadly this had no effect on me and I was as bright eyed and bushy tailed as usual come bed time. I don't want to take Sleeping Pills as I feel these are not good for you, in the same way that Anti Depressants aren't. Has anyone else ever experienced these types of problems and if so what did you do to get over them. It's driving me mad and it's now 01:35, help!!!

@FrancLeone , this is a subject that I would discuss with your MS Nurse. If you're still holding down a full-time job, then I'd expect you to be tired by the end of the day. So something needs to be done to get you in a "regular" pattern. One thought is Amitriptyline. It is a medication that is often prescribed for neuropathic pain, but it has other benefits too. It is a mild anti-depressant, but it also helps you sleep, as to the recommendation that you take it 12 hours before you intend to arise the next day. It's well tolerated and even given to infants to try and address bed-wetting.

Thanks Stumbler and Orlando for your feedback, I will mention the medications to my doctor. Thank you very much,
