Hello other sick people I'm new here

I was diagnosed 11 years ago. I've embraced the eyepatch that helps the optic neuritis. Once I got used to the change in depth perception, at least. The cane is fine. My biggest issue has been slowly losing the ability to do the things I love. I was a bicycle mechanic and messenger and played drums. All gone. Anybody have experience with losing things like that? They weren't just jobs. They were my passions. It's hard to give up not only your job and passion, but those social connections.

Hello I struggled a lot with optic neuritis and double vision and I had to wear prisms after my last relapse which wasn't great. I did recover though and now I wear contacts and have to repeat to myself that I'm seeing double when it flares up. The eyepatch sounds cool though, I think I would/will embrace it too. I love cycling and keep it up as much as possible. It's my main form of transport since I don't drive cos of the double vision thing. It is hard in the unbearably hot summers though so I need to get back on it now. Are you unable to ride at all? Have you investigated adapted bikes? I find the lower centre of gravity preferable to walking personally. I was also a musician and that's something I let slip before I got ill but I recently bought a keyboard and I'm gonna get back into it. What's the issue: is it one of hand to eye coordination? Have you tried PT? And what kinda music are you into?

Hey I'm not the only one with a patch! I lost my vision in my right eye which is what got me diagnosed. Since then I definitely don't enjoy driving as much as i used to but the big loss for me was going target shooting. I was a great shot before this and could put 5 rounds in a 1 inch group at 100 meters. I tried shooting a milk jug recently at the same distance and couldn't even hit it. I'm trying the learn to shoot left handed but my left eye has naturally poor vision so not great either but I'll keep trying
