Peloton vs gym

Since being diagnosed with MS a couple of months ago, I have noticed I am starting to gain weight and it is really getting me down. I want to blame the medication that I’m on 😂 but it’s probably due to my comfort, eating and being a lot less active than I used to be. I have started going to aquacise classes and I feel that it’s time for me to re join the gym… but sometimes I feel so tired but the thought of leaving my house I’m going to the gym seems unthinkable. I wondered if I had a peloton bike that I could just sit on and work out whilst I listened to a YouTube video might help. But they are like £2000 so it’s a bit investment. I have looked at exercise bikes that aren’t peloton, but I feel that I need the extra motivation of the online classes that peloton offers. I’ve tried walking to lose a few pounds, but a few times I found that I’ve started of walking and then been exhausted or in pain and not being able to get home, so I’ve had to call someone to pick me up. I’d love to swim, but I can’t swim 😂 I have a massive fear of water and never venture out of the shallow end 😂 At the moment, other than normal hands and fingers, painful shoulder and painful back. I have some mobility. I feel that the more weight again the harder that’s going to be on my body so I need to put a stop to these extra pounds creeping on. I do have people that could go to the gym with me, such as my husband, but he wouldn’t be able to go on till about 8 pm at night and that is no good for me. By 3 pm I am completely exhausted 😂 Does anyone have any advice about exercise equipment or going to the gym?

Is that how much one of the peleton bikes is 😳I’ve always quite fancied one myself, for the same reason as you I suspect but oh my days I actually had to put my reading glasses on to make sure there wasn’t a decimal point in that price 😳 Tbh I would have never known been ill would be so expensive, having just had to buy an Apple Watch for the fitness tracker and fall and crash detection (which did seem an obvious and good idea 🤔

Hi @ChiMum have you had a look at Dom Thorpe on YouTube. He has exercises for people with MS on there for free. I really do sympathise as after 15+ years of controlling my diet I've gone off the rails unfortunately. I've joined his MS Warrior programme which you do have to pay for. It's a 12 wk programme but you have access to it forever. It concentrates on different muscle groups and exercises can be adapted depending on your ability levels. He has other programmes with one 2 one contact however they are out of my price range. I must admit I had every intention of following it religiously but unfortunately real life and family commitments got in the way so I fell off the path. I'm determined to start again and today I'm shopping for healthy foods and giving up drinking at home. I've put on so much weight after 15+ years of being healthy and its making me feel awful. Wishing you all the best and I hope you find some type if exercises that you enjoy and works for you.
