Straight to business: Dating!

Sorry to be upfront but I’m not really sure where else to ask... Being newly diagnosed with RRMS at 20, I’m not really on the dating scene. I’ve never had a proper relationship but I do know that I would like to meet someone and raise a family with them one day soon! The crux of the matter is that I don’t know what kind of things may pop up in dating - has anyone found it helps to mention specific things or ask certain questions early on? Any help or tips would be appreciated - I wasn’t strong on dating before MS so anything that makes it easier to navigate would be great 😂 Hope you’re all having a great day!

@keepsmyelin99, only thing I can say is always be honest. Been with my wife for 10 years and we have both always told it like it was to each other. Good, bad and the ugly. Mind you it has caused a lot of arguments over the years. As you know we all have our own opinions and thoughts on certain things and don’t want to look at it from the others point of view. But trust me it is for those reasons being honest always works in the end. Don’t get me wrong it doesn’t always work though. Especially when it comes to MS. For instance I tell my wife all the time that I am fine. When we both really know that I’m not. So really it isn’t so much not being honest just that I am as fine as I can be. But she also know if there was something that was really wrong I would tell her. But that all comes in time. It takes time to develop trust and honesty and you can’t expect it straight out of the gate. Sorry if that sounds a little preachy but just what I have learned and my two cents is all. I wish you well and happiness. Good luck on your search. 🤗🤗

Thanks @shannon_devlaminck ! That’s some pretty sound advice 😉 I don’t imagine I wouldn’t be honest about my MS from the very start with someone, but knowing what you said about making sure we stress the difference between “fine” and “as fine as I can be”, is important, so thank you 🙏 You and your wife sound like you have a great healthy relationship - May it continue to prosper.
