Prescription charges in the NHS

This is not a moan but a warning. Check your prescriptions are covered As an MSer I cost the NHS nearly £20,000 a year for my DMT fingolimod/Gilenya alone but that comes from the hospital so no prescription charge. The NHS also generously paid out £200 per month for my catheters. Yes it costs over a grand a year for me to pee. I don’t mind paying £104 per year on a pre paid certificates (https://apps.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/ppc-online/patient.do) I’ve just been caught out by the changes in my local area to continence product supply and they are no longer free to me as I’ve been discharged from the Continence Service as I apparently don’t need them any more. They didn’t tell me! So I’ve got done for a penalty for not paying for the prescription for my catheters via the lovely Select delivery people. I don’t get free prescriptions (even though I’m on Working families tax credits) that’s 44 pounds! Also on top of that because people think they get high from pregabelin (I take it for nerve pain) the NHS now will only prescribe a month at a time instead of 4 times a year. My docs just rang me to tell me. So I have availed my self of the good value £10.40 for £10 months NHS pre payment. NHS you rock!
