MS and Menopause

Hi, just DX with RRMS (getting used to these abbreviations!) and been offered Lemtrada or Ocrevus, after doing research leaning to the Ocrevus so will email neurologist on Monday. Been reading and reflecting, also aware of the menopause as I am almost 48 (help!) and def going through the periomenopause. Obviously I now have MS and will go through the menopause, how do women in this situation cope? Eg should I look at HRT? Been thinking too much, need to cook dinner and have a glass of mulled wine to finish off the bottle from Xmas! Cheers!

@thequietlady , your MS nurse or GP should be able to advise on the merits of HRT. Hopefully, you will get some personal experiences shortly, as I have no personal experience. You could also try putting HRT into the Forum Search function (magnifying glass, top left) and see what that shows up.

@grandma

Obviously went through the menopause a few years ago, was on Avonex at the time, didn't appear to have any effects on the ms at the time which was a surprise as I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the same time and was dealing with all those drugs, chemotherapy and nature. Went through 2 years of hell, but didn't have a relapse, didn't take HRT. But we are all so different with and without ms, dont worry about what hasn't happened yet😜👍
