Lemtrada

Hello all I've now got secondary progressive MS now, had it since '97 but only found out in May '17. I have virtually every symptom in differing levels and posted some stuff here when I 1st found out, but I spent a lot of time researching MS back then and I forgot that I posted anything, typical, LOL.. Anyway, I'm now back and I've saved as a favourite so will keep on this now. My question is: I've read up on Lemtrada and understand that it can stop MS in it's tracks, but as I've got some symptoms that seem hard coded into my body now, I am nervous regarding Lemtrada with some of the potential side effects. Because of the symptoms that I have and because I have had them for many years, I can see myself living with it as it is now for the rest of my life, but would not want it to get worse. I know that it is not risk-free and no guarantees, but would love to get in touch with someone who really knows a lot about Lemtrada. There, that is me.. Kind regards Martin.

@gelek , I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there are presently no treatments approved for Secondary Progressive MS (SPMS). All present Disease Modifying Therapies (DMTs) work by reducing the frequency and severity of relapses, a feature missing (usually) from SPMS. Lemtrada was one of the first DMTs, which gave some hope that existing damage could be reversed, although this was never a definite, being influenced by age and existing neuronal reserve. There is Mayzent (Siponimod), slowly going through the approval process which might be an option in the future, if approval is successful. https://www.mstrust.org.uk/a-z/siponimod

Hi Stumbler, Gotta love your name, spot on.. LOL Got to get my brain thinking (slowly, of a goos name,... ha. Oh, I was kind of under he impression that there is the potential of nothing but thought I'd ask. Someone I know had it with brilliant results and thought if I could stop it in it's tracks for good then maybe?? the risks were worth it, oh well. Thank you for replying, I'm just about to drive to Lewes so will reach out to you soon. Cheers, Martin.
