Hospital visits

Hi, just popping in, not feeling well and stress levels that were high are even higher now! My father in law fell down on Monday evening, and is in hospital with a severe bladder infection that was detected by blood tests as he is starting chemo treatment for blood cancer. My question is, is it a good idea to visit him, a friend who has visited says he's in a ward designed for 4 patients but with 8, and they all have infections! Obviously I can't avoid hospital but should I protect myself by not visiting inpatient wards? It only struck me last night. Or am I being silly? My health has been really bad and I went to bed straight after working at market on Monday, only having toast and coffee for dinner, first time that has happened! Beautiful sunny and windy day in Essex, will take the dog out after I have dressed.

Many of the DMTs can make you immunocompromised. There really is only one reliable way to judge the potential risk, and that is to talk to your MS nurse team. They'll have knowledge of you as a patient and your circumstances so be able to give you the best advice. MS is quite peculiar so what is good for one is not necessarily good for another.

@grandma

Agree with Dominic's, be very careful until you have checked it out with your ms nurse. We are all so different, but him being in an 'overcrowded?' Ward, dealing with who knows what infections, your family should understand if you choose not to go🥊😜
