Dark place

In the autumn I went (with 67000 other folk) to a sporting event in my wheelchair sitting in an accessible area. Already accepted my condition and abilities but after a young guy behind me spilled drink on me (not the first and won’t be the last time) and his mate proclaimed “I can’t believe you have just spilled drink on a disabled person”, it really hit home. I went to a dark place that I am getting out of, a place I don’t want to visit again, the dark place that is. I may have said that 7 years ago! How things change, I would least have given him enough warning to catch the drink in his mouth

Hmmmm Hi Craig, its often hits really hard and hurts when random people just vocalise things that we don’t really need pointing out to us and or / to have to think about & this often results in just making us focus and very aware again on the reality of our situations (there are times and places for that). I often think to stop people pointing out the obvious at unwanted times & that we really don’t want to think about at that moment, a sign should be invented that says ’yes I’m really not very well thankyou & I am fully aware of this and I’m currently just trying to make the best of a really sh*te situation’.

It makes me laugh when I'm asked why I have a white stick as they can't see anything wrong with my eyes!
