In the UK and being denied stronger DMTs

Ever since I was diagnosed I’ve pushed to get on a strong DMT such as Ocrevus (since there is a lot of research that you should hit MS ‘hard and fast’) but to no avail. My neurologist simply refuses. I emailed my MS nurse the other day to see if I could persuade her but she replied with ‘The question of prescribing DMTs is outlined by a national criteria - in other words certain DMTs can only be prescribed if certain things are evident.’ This is so frustrating as a lot of people around my age (20) seem to have been given the highly effective stuff right away, not the less effective ones like Aubagio that I am currently on. How do I get the treatment I want?? Do I have to call my GP to help me change neurologists to get the treatment I want or will I receive the same response from them?
@DominicS

I would suggest you change Neurologist. For whatever reason yours is closed minded. You are never going to change their mind. Take the path of least resistance as you simply do not have time to grind away on a losing battle. Whereabouts in the UK are you?

@DominicS He is not an MS specialist so I gather that he’s not up to date on research about it. I’m in Brighton. Can I change neurologist just by calling my GP? The NHS is a bit confusing to me with my brain fog. Feeling very overwhelmed with little to no support network.
