PIP. hsre is the governments position

Justin Tomlinson the Minister for Disabled People ! Has sent this to my MP "Firstly I met with Michelle Mitchell Chief Execitive MS Society on 17Th November 2015" He does not give the outcome of the meeting... Apparently "disability benefit expenditure is not assessed and allocated in the same manner as budgets which are subject to Department Expenditure Limits. It is demand led meaning that no expenditure level is set" This is in my opinion is just a cop out given the fact that the object of this whole enterprise is to cut the disability budget. Then he goes on to give this convoluted self justifying explanation which he has sent to Baroness Thomas and Baroness Grey Thompson " clarifying the governments position as follows..... While many claimants who cannot walk up to 50 metres will receive the mobility component at the enhanced rate , some may not (!!!) this will depend on whether they are unable to walk more than 20 metres safely, to an acceptable standard ,repeatedly and within a reasonable time period or whether they are able to walk over 20 metres but less than 50 metres but also score points elsewhere on the mobility criteria, under "Planning and Following Journeys " If a claimant cannot walk up to 50 metres safely, to an acceptable standard and within a reasonable time period, then they are guaranteed to receive at least the standard rate of the mobility component" So there you have it .. designed to confuse everyone I would think including the enforcers. I am concerned to know what Michelle Mitchell and Baroness Grey Thompson made of this rubbish . And more importantly are they continuing to fight over it or have they just given up
@tessa

Just read the ministers letter to my husband who says the first paragraph re non existent budgets being expenditure led is the biggest load of double speak he has ever heard. And the rationalisation for benefit is clearly incomprehensible

@Stumbler

@tessa , it really is down to us to ensure that we submit our application, with the correct level of objective detail and with the right level of supporting evidence. However, I do understand that once we've crossed all the Ts and dotted the Is, we can still fall foul of a money-saving, jobsworth barsteward. Then we have to fight our corner, but we have to ensure that our initial preparation is beyond reproach. The Benefits and worksite, http://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/ , provide a wealth of information and guidance to allow us to successfully navigate this process.
