PIP Lottery

I know there are lots of you on here, who have had horrendous problems with claiming PIP and proving the necessity for it. I on the other hand, feel very guilty, because I had quite a positive experience. I made my initial claim and was interviewed on the phone. , I should’ve done it sooner, but I just didn’t think I was bad enough or that I would get it. So I made my initial claim in February this year, and then, when I got the lowest element PIP I decided to appeal. I put my appeal in, in April, and I had a telephone interview with a very knowledgeable assessor who seemed to have an understanding of MS and the way it affects us all. She understood about fatigue. she understood that you have a good day, then you have a bad day and she was actually really really helpful. I had submitted evidence from my MS Nurses, and she was happy to approve me for the higher level of PIP and it was also backdated. I’m happy to answer any questions anybody may have about my experience.
@QueenVic

That’s good to know. I’ve recently had telephone assessment with a physiotherapist- he seemed to know a lot about MS as well, so keeping fingers crossed I don’t have to fight for PIP. Really does seem to be who you deal with and their understanding around MS

@BULLMAN

I was a PIP assessor and did presentations around Yorkshire and Humber and the north east on PIP.
