maintaining good diet

hello again hope everyone is doing fine I was diagnosed few months ago first thing doctor said try to loose weight (I'm obese) quite dairy food and other things so I started balanced diet but I couldn't 100% commit to it and I'm always thinking that I'm harming myself and I go back to my emotion eating cycle 😢😢 any advice
@Stumbler

@aseelhussien , so have you managed to lose any weight? A good balanced diet is a good foundation. Whilst this will improve the quality of your diet, you would still need to adjust the quantity! It is difficult to adopt a substantial diet, so you shouldn't chastise yourself for the odd guilty pleasure. "A little of what you fancy does you no harm", with the important word being "little"!

@HappyHen

@aseelhussien, it is really difficult. I was also overweight. I now have swallowing problems which come and go. I inevitably lost weight on a semi-liquid diet (milk/egg/smoothie based), which wasn't great and hated the loss of control over what I could eat. When the swallowing is fairly ok I am selective about eating only those things I really like and this tends to be more about texture and flavour. I was told that it is more important to increase the exercise, by walking and generally keeping going than worry about actual weight. I appreciate you may find that tricky. It is worth trying it as you may start to feel more positive about things. My neurologist isn't concerned about my weight (which is still overweight) but is more bothered about getting exercise as it helps with mood and also the healing process of active lesions in the brain. It is difficult but perhaps it would help if you ordered online only then you cannot be tempted to buy stuff which is triggering the emotional eating (if it isn't in the home then it can't be eaten)? Take each day at a time and try not to blame yourself for the times when eating doesn't go as intended. Every successful day is another step towards even more successful days! I hope this helps and send you a hug...
