Paxlovid anti-viral

Nothing came up when I searched here. 4 days covid positive and on Kesimpta so have been sent a pack of these antivirals. Will check with my MS team tomorrow but wondered if anyone here has experience these yet. They are supposed to help the immune system overcome covid.

Hello! I just wondered if you have started these tablets? I tested positive for Covid on Sunday morning and have definitely got worse over night and have now been given a prescription for these tablets and wondered how you are getting on?

Hiya - I finished my course on Thursday last week. It was a real production getting the NHS process to work to get antiviral or an infusion after my positive test, and I eventually got them at 9pm on the Saturday night, which was the very end of day 4 (and had involved an awful lot of chasing on my part). It's impossible to know if they helped or not, and they're designed to make sure you don't get worse, rather than to help you get over covid faster. You could argue that by the time I received them, I was already over the worst (111 sent me an ambulance on Wednesday night). My body seemed to clear the virus out faster than my wife (who wasn't on antivirals) and I was got my first negative test on day 9, but who knows if that was the drugs. I didn't get any worse and beyond the drugs seemingly making the tastebuds on my tongue swell up and feel a bit weird, I didn't experience (m)any side effects either. Once I eventually got through to the right person in the NHS, I was also pretty impressed that they had been through my medical records in detail and were able to explain to me pretty clearly what I could still take safely and what I needed to stop because of a possible interaction. Getting them earlier than I did would probably have been better, but better late than never.
