kesimpta Advice

Anyone on kesimpta bit of help needed I no when they give you the information packs it says possible infections we could get and I've come out with a cold sore I used to always get them and would never worry, but atfer I saw the ms nurse before I first started she made out if I get any infection I'm gonna die my anxiety is at an all time high!! Like I've got cold sore plasters to cover it to stop it spreading! But cold sore are normal tho but as my ms nurse has scared the life outta me!

breathe 😮‍💨 take the notice all the info says that it’s one of the infections that kesimpta heightens exposure too but as you said it’s a cold sore might end up being a nasty one but it’s still a cold sore- personally I would start to panic when your legs hanging on by a thread (take the notice it’s your body and you will know when something feels off and you need to verify with the professionals/seek advice) if your blood results are fine and you feel fine just take it all in your stride. the professionals are always that professional ie they don’t know everything and often down play a lot of our symptoms they can also go into panic at the wrong times too especially if new to ms care/support. just keep a low key eye on yourself. take care of you Always & good luck 👍🍀💪

Well I'm on Kesimpta and the nurse certainly didn't tell me I'd "die" of any infection when I had the prep talk. They did say that if I got a fever or flu (rather than just a cold) I should contact my GP. I've had several colds so far, got through them all just fine. As regards the cold sore, it sounds like you're taking steps to sort it. Perhaps you could contact your GP and/or MS nurse practice if you're anxious? I was told these drugs "module" your immune system - they don't delete it altogether. In fact, when I had my blood test 6 months in I had *more* white blood cells (the ones that fight infection) than before I started. So in short... I'd contact a healthcare professional if you're still anxious but try not to panic!
