Ocrevus compared to Lemtrada compared to Cladribine

Are there any scientists out there who can explain to me why when you take Lemtrada or mavenclad you expect your immune system to grow back and behave itself after two or three treatments, but with ocrevus you have to keep taking it?
@Stumbler

@dominics , are you able to explain the science in understable English? 😉

Hi @KateB Cladrabine and Lemtrada deplete B and T cells, Ocrevus just depletes the B cells, so I guess the thinking is that both B and T cells (not just the B) need to be depleted and reconstitute correctly to allow the immune system to behave. Ocrelizumab has been tested and licensed as a continuous maintenance therapy. Saying all that Prof Giovannoni has written about the fact that he believes if ocrevus was given at a higher dose it may work as an induction therapy (ie like Lem and Clad), patients with a lower BMI (and therefore getting a higher dose) tend to get greater benefit. I can always try to find a link to Prof Gs theories if you are interested.
