In my previous post I pointed out that getting together with friends, laughing and playing games are all activities that promote positive brain changes as well as boosting our mood. Laughter has been proven to be beneficial medicine for anxiety and depression. According to Bennett and Lengecker (2006), “The concept that humor or laughter can be therapeutic goes back to biblical times and this belief has received varying levels of support from the scientific community at different points in its history.” Watching a TV comedy, reading a funny book or playing a family game that makes you laugh, can all be really good “medicine” to take when you are feeling anxious or are depressed.

This is great advice backed up by research. So the old saying “laughter is the best medicine “ has some truth.
