Not on any DMT

So this year I was diagnosed with RRMS. Took 11 months to get diagnosed. I have opted put of any official treatment as I didn't feel comfortable with any of the options. My doctors think im crazy of course but at this point I'm good with my decision. Just curious if there are others who have opted out of treatment and what your thoughts on it are.

Just to clarify, I'm not looking to be convinced to get on medication or treatment. Just want to know what others think who have made the same decision

Hey :) Yes and no. When I was diagnosed (2014) I was encouraged to start treatment and I did. I was 23, overwhelmed, fearful so went with it. I used two injections - Rebif and Avonex for about 7yrs. I’d grown tired of the side effects and marks they were leaving on my body, I was also having a flare up / release at the time and struggling to use one of my sites for injecting (R thigh). Neurologist felt confident I could take a break which was my wish. I haven’t taken a DMT since 2021 but never stopped using Gabapentin for pain. I was content with that decision for a few years :) However, disclosure, I am now being asked to reconsider that idea due to a couple of relapses and I’m thinking about it. I encourage anyone to do what feels instinctively right for them, follow your gut, decisions are and can be changeable so you can make a different decision in months / years to come, commence / stop treatment when you choose etc etc. Got to do what feels right for you but I would also trust the advice of my Neuro when he says yes and no to DMTs, like in my case :) Stacey
