Pet for MS

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with MS 2 months ago. I know that stress is something that affects MS and I stress about everything. I wanted to get a kitten for myself as I read that a pet is a good option for someone with MS because it relives stress. The place I live in I can't have a pet. I spoke to the landlord who lives next door and explained my situation and my health and described to him that I would like an indoor cat. I wouldn't be letting the cat outside in the garden as my anxiety is too bad for that. He said no as this would affect his 14 year old dog. Is there anything I could do here to be able to get a kitten for myself?
@ChiMum

A pet sounds like a fabulous idea. I have a cat, but she’s not much of a cuddler. I do have two little dogs though I’m gonna have a bad day and then the sofa they never leave my side and they’re massive source of comfort for me. I’ve worked from home for 14 years so I’ve always had dogs as they are great company and someone to talk to you when I am alone in the house for long periods of time. I hope your landlord sees how good it would be for your health.

@ChiMum I love animals and they do bring a massive comfort to me so I would love to have one. Just leaving it up to my landlord at the moment! x
