Ocrevus – Shielding.

Hello everyone, hope youre fairing well.
Im having my second round of ocrevus (so first full dose not the half doses) on the 12th of August and have been told i have to shield for six weeks after.
I understand why but ive been really careful for the whole outbreak and just as we get to a point where it may be easing we have to shield again. Does nothing for your mental health thats for sure!
My partners is expected to be back in the office as his shielding finishes at the start of August… How is it sustainable, can we actually live together?
Sorry I’ll stop ranting now 🙂

Im guessing the advice is different for different doctors and trusts so itd be interesting to see what advice other people have been given…

Hi,
I had my second Ocrevus infusion 3 weeks ago and I was told by my MS nurse and my Neuro who I saw whilst having the treatment that I did not need to shield. I had my treatment in Sunderland.

If only the NHS could put out a consistent message. Then, maybe it may not cost as much………….

I had the same message from my consultant at Leeds. The risk of getting covid 19 does not change from having ocrevus administered. I had the phone consultation last week.
I hope it is of help for you.

I had my full dose last month; was not told to hide in my basement. In fact, I was managing my friends playing Slo-Pitch a few days later.

It appears the experts are not experts. Just a bunch of people with degrees making educated guesses. Which is why social distancing is one meter in England; two meters in Canada…

I’ve been told I may need to shield again for another 12 weeks when I’m due my next round of ocrevus. Tho I’m seeing people being told they don’t need to shield. There was a poll on shifts instagram a couple of weeks ago asking people who are on ocrevus if they had to shield and 66% said no, so I’m questioning if I really need to shield again for another 12 weeks, I don’t think I’ll do it again as I have been really careful and sensible and will continue doing that

I had my Ocrevus yesterday. My neurologist told me that I didn’t have to shield but I do need to maintain social distancing.
