I've had my first covid vaccine which was asta zeneca
But my husband got scared ashe read a recent news about some man had it and had a stroke!! Now that is very very scary!!!! Can we have a different vaccine like pfizer instead?

I thought I replied to this but it’s not showing. Government guidance is 2 doses of the same vaccine & for over 50yr olds or people in jcvi groups 1-9 the doses should be 8 weeks apart. There are many risk factors to having a stroke. If you’ve had AZ vaccine then you’re advised to get dose 2 as soon as it’s due, the clotting risk is having a condition called ‘antiphospholipid syndrome’. If you’re concerned you’re best to discuss with the professionals at your vaccination centre who can advise & discuss risks with you. There are a lot more situations/ conditions that carry a greater risk of clots than AZ vaccine including Covid itself. Take care, Colette
