Driving in the UK with MS

I have informed the DVLA of my MS diagnosis. Had a letter today to say they have written to my neurologist to ask her to confirm that I am still fit to drive . How likely is it that they would take her word for it or will I need to be assessed? I honestly feel I am still safe to drive.
