Double vision and work

Hi, I have been off work for 4 months now. I work in a pharmacy, dispensing medication is not possible when I can see two of everything!! It's getting more and more likely that I cannot go back to that job. I'm really struggling and anxious as I have no idea what I'm going to do. I've applied for PIP, but not hopeful of that. My anxiety is through the roof

In your post below, you say the double vision episode has lasted for five weeks so far. In that case, maybe it might yet recover and you’ll be able to work again? Would be worth checking into your pension rules about ill health retirement and whether you’d qualify. You’d need the support of your line management and occupational health. However you also mention in your other post that your neuro has raised the possibility of HSCT. If you recover, this or one of the more effective meds (ocrevus, tysabri, Kesimpta) may reduce your relapse rate and give you some stability?

Hi @nikchez , sorry to hear about your vision issues. So at the start of my MS, before diagnosis, I had double-vision for about 9 months as my left eye stopped working. The left eye wouldn't move, causing the double vision as my eyes weren't in sync. The positive news is that after that time, my eye control/movement came back again and all returned to normal. That was quite a few years before my second symptom and I got my MS diagnosis. During that time, I wore a pair of lens-less glasses, and put a patch over the dodgy eye. It took a minute to get used to it, but the patch blocked out the second image, and after a while it just became normal to see with one eye, blocking out the vision of the knackered eye. I continued to try and train my left eye at home, trying to move it etc and started to regain its full use. If you want to get back to work, give that a try? Just either wearing a patch, or the glasses with a cover approach? It worked for me, and I was able to crack on as normal. But if you'd prefer to stay off work sick, I feel there's hope for your eye to start working again. The same happened with my Mum during her initial stages of MS.
