Diet

I have recently been diagnosed. But I have yet to see the local specialist MS team. I have looked up various MS diets or healthy eating, I don't mind changing my eating habits. But I am getting confused on what might be the best to follow. Is it as straight forward as dairy, wheat and gluten free then add things back in and see if there is a reaction? Has anyone had any success in changing their eating habits and is there an easy to follow list of what is okay to eat? At the moment I feel that I have very mild symptoms, I am recovering from optic neuritis and I have tingling on and off. Oh and the fatigue. But to be honest it is all manageable but I would like to do something to help these symptoms that I already have and try to stop further attacks. Thanks in advance

There are probably as many theories around as clouds in the sky but the conclusion that most if not everyone with - including the medics - agrees with is that we have to live healthily. If we don't, it's bad news for the MS. So it's about diet but it's also about sleep, lifestyle, weight, alcohol and all the rest. And the other thing that most people agree on is that stress can turn on symptoms. You don't need to rush into special diets but you do need to consider all aspects of how you're living day to day. As for preventing attacks, this is where the 'insurance policy' aspect of starting DMD treatment comes in.

@lm12463 , following on from @cameron 's advice, you could always keep a food diary, so that you record everything you eat. Then, if you have a bad day, you can look back to see whether a particular food item may have been too blame....
