Getting your words out
Hello. Recently I've been really struggling to get my words out or just forget what I'm saying.
I work in an accounts department for a company and doing my actual work I'm fine with. It's just when I have to talk about something it goes wrong.
I'm starting to worry that if I bring this up with my bosses, they will want to get rid of me.
Does anyone else have this "experience"?
Firstly, they can't just get rid of you as you are protected under the Equality Act (as long as you have disclosed to your bosses that you have MS) That out of the way - I have the same issue. It is exceptionally bad when I'm fatigued and my friends affectionately refer to it as my "mental stutter." There are strategies you can use to help overcome this - I spoke to a language therapist (or some such person - ironically I can't remember her job title now!) at my local MS Therapy Centre and she sent me information about brain exercises and language strategies to help avoid that "it's on the tip of my tongue but I can't quite find the word I'm looking for" scenario.... May be worth looking in to? :)
I find myself in that "tip of the tongue" scenario T mentioned pretty often. Haven't looked much into strategies to overcome that, so usually say whatever I can think of at the time that explains what I'm trying to say best. I usually end up using much larger words then I intended, but hey, at least it looks like I have a good vocabulary!
