Stem Cells

Hi all, I have been diagnosed since 2008 but never had any DMDs offered to me until earlier this year. I turned them down to join the STREAMS trial which involves taking intravenous stem cells harvested from my own bone marrow. Is anybody else on the trial? There are only 13 patients on it in the UK so a bit of a long shot, but would be good to get in touch with other participants or even anybody who's interested in the whole stem cell debate....
@Stumbler

Sounds encouraging. More details here :- http://multiple-sclerosis-research.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/streams-trial-stem-cells-in-rapidly.html How's it going for you, @andysot ?

@andysot

Still early days @stumbler. It's a 12 month double blinded trial. My cells were harvested successfully and I've had the 1st of two infusions. One is the stem cell, the other is placebo but I don't know in which order and nor do the doctors. It's been two months since the infusion but no notable changes so I may have had the placebo first. It's a little bit like MS roulette to be honest pal!
