MRI head pain

Hello! I was diagnosed last year and have had 2 MRIs with contrast since. Both times, near the end of the MRI, after I received contrast, the back of my head starts burning. Almost like it’s on fire. It’s so uncomfortable and nearly impossible to finish the MRI while it’s happening. The last time I had it done, I started crying in the machine. Which is embarrassing. I asked the MRI tech when I came out if that is normal, and she said that she had someone else tell her that the other day. So maybe it’s normal? Has this ever happened to anyone else?! If so, any tips on what to do during an MRI to help with the burning? Thank you!!

I once had pretty bad pain at the back of my head by the end of an MRI that took about 2.5h. But it was more like a pressure sore from lying on a hard surface without moving and not like a burning sensation so I think simply having a break or a pillow would have helped. My monitoring scans now are done without contrast and only last about 20min so luckily this isn't a problem any more. Do you do the contrast because of the research study?

Yeah, it kind of starts out feeling like it’s a pressure sore from laying on it, but then progresses into a very uncomfortable burn. I might ask for a pillow or something next time! Thank you! I’m actually not sure why I have to do contrast, but it might have to do with the study. I’m jealous of your 20 minute/no contrast scans!
