Newly diagnosed

I have just been diagnosed with MS. Still waiting for results from my lumbar puncture to find out which type. I am still in hospital unable to walk and just after peoples experiences of how they have been with it. I currently have numbness from the chest down and in the palms of my hands. Thank you in advance and apologies it is such a vague post. Still coming to terms with what is “normal” and what I will recover from

Welcome to this group! I am sorry that you have it but glad that they know what is causing your grief so they can treat it. It is a lot to take in and I’m sure you are stunned and worried. I wish I could tell you what is a normal timeline, or a normal course of symptoms or normal sensations. However, it seems to me that we are all quite different with lots of variables. I will say that my initial symptoms of super sensitive fingertips feeling like frostbite—-those lasted for a few months and then backed off. So I can say that I considered this an aspect of recovery. I didn’t have any notable changes until probably 10 years later. But again, there is no typical rate. Lots of DMT treatments to choose from. Make sure your doctor is willing to educated you on the benefits, strengths and risks of all. Lastly, I am going to use this Good Friday to say that my one true hope has always been through Jesus Christ, my Savior. I would be remiss if I didn’t use this holy day to express that publicly. So while I cannot offer you answers to your medical questions, I know that through Jesus, there is rest for your soul, a cure for your anxiety and comfort during times of medical distress. Let’s raise up @Maxscott , and others struggling through the MS-maze, in prayer today!

Welcome to the club you didn’t choose to join! 😅 You have a great deal of compassion and empathy coming at you from the Shift.ms community. What you’re going through is frightening and maybe already filled with grief or anger. Please know that while you’re about to embark on a very hard journey, this community is here for you as they have been for me. It gets “better.” I hope you’re out of the hospital soon. 🧡
