RRMS to PPMS

If you’ve been diagnosed after a ‘big’ relapse but have experienced ’odd’ symptoms in the past but didn’t know what it was, was this ms then? Does this also mean potentially progressing to PPMS happens quicker because it’s taken a couple of years/ or longer to actually diagnose ms? Hope this makes sense 🩶

Hey, just to say that not everyone progresses to Secondary progressives MS after RRMS. I think that on the average it can be about 10yrs from diagnosis to transition into SPMS. No idea how a neurologist diagnoses, but I guess they listen to the history from the person and determine if progression is happening without relapse 🤷‍♀️.

If you’re in your teens / twenties and are not taking any meds you could expect anywhere from 20-25 years before progressing to secondary progressive if in fact you were in the 50%ish that progress. Since you are taking a highly effective med, your chances are already much better. PPMS (primary progressive) is an entirely other diagnosis. TBH, won’t help you at all to dwell on it!
