Does Anyone have Fleeting Dizzy Spells?
I’ve been experiencing dizzy spells for the last 6 months. When they come they only last a 30secs to a minute. They are worse when I am tired. I do think my eyes play a part as moving screens, bright light etc can trigger it. Does anyone else experience this? My Ms nurse said it was unlikely due to the MS as the dizziness would need to be there for more than 24 hours. I’m being referred to ENT. Most event head scan in June didn’t show any new lesions.
I wrote a whole lengthy post in response about it, and it then disappeared from my screen.. I had similar dizziness spells for one year. I was referred to ent, had a scan of the inner ear - no issues detected. I was given some head exercises, and discharged. I had to live with it, and it was one of my most troublesome symptoms. It was unpredictable, and I couldn’t quite discern a pattern of what would set it off. It would sometime happen during my sleep - waking up in these dizzy episodes was unsettling. It did go away by itself, eventually. I’m sorry you have to deal with this.
I think dizziness and vertigo are common symptoms of MS. I have experienced balance issues a lot. Nothing to do with my ears. Unfortunately, unless you experience the problem for 24 hours or more the MS team won’t treat you. However, I think they should listen and support. Having MS can be really scary. I am not sure what treatment can help. Hopefully someone else will have an answer on this site. Accessing help and support can be really difficult and frustrating. Some clear guidance would also help. Telling us what they can and can’t do, would be useful 🤔. Keep a record of everything and present it to your team again if it affects you for over 24hrs. Hope you feel better soon.
