Canes and tissues on the giving end of things

Three days ago I had the honour of being a member of a small team of counsellors who supported participants at a Kairos Blanket Exercise. This exercise is an emotional, eye-opening look at the relationship and history between Canada’s Indigenous People and Canadian immigrants for the last 300 years. If you can attend one of these sessions, I urge you to do so. I've got to say that if feels very good to be on the giving end of help and support. Cane in one hand, box of tissues in the other, I wobbled from one participant to the next (we couldn't wear shoes and without them, my leg braces are useless), offering emotional support. Can you reach out somewhere in your community and give a little of yourself? Does that even feel like something worthwhile to you?
