MRI Scans

hi MS guys 😀 I want to put out there does anyone else feel that the MRI scan for MS might be a bit misleading. I only ask because I've got a copy of my scan (googly eyes & everything!) & to my untrained eye I can't see one lesion. The dictionary defines a lesion as an injury, wound or tumour and all I saw was shading. That's my first question. Now I'm gonna ask does anyone else feel that if the whole world population got scanned their brains would show all sorts of injuries from physical ones to things like stress, all could be described as 'lesions' This question is coming from someone who doubted from the start their MS diagnosis & has been damaged by all the meds & medical procedures & treatm ents she's been given for her 'agressive' MS.

Hi Deb, I’m a neuroscientist by trade (ironic right?!) and MRI’s show multiple tiny ‘slices’ of your brain. The image you may be looking at may just be one ‘slice’ rather than the whole thing and lesions can hide really deep into the brain tissue. Hope this helps! X
