I’m new here. I’ve been diagnosed for 6 years now and this disease here lately has really got me feeling down. I’m currently on iv steroids for a flare up. Any advice to help me keep going and not wanting to give up on everything?

Hi @retta and welcome. Living with MS can be a huge burden, so we need to be in the right place mentally to effectively manage it.

So, go and have a chat with your Doctor, to explain how you’re feeling and see what they can give you to help. We all need a bit of help, either a short course of anti-depressants or as part of our usual medical toolkit.

@stumbler I’m already on an anti-depressant just doesn’t seem to be working as good as it should be. Just wish I had someone to talk to that actually understands everything that I’m feeling and not judge me for feeling this way. Guess I’m just feeling sorry for myself.

@retta , with MS, we carry a burden which can seem huge from time to time. So, having a period of feeling sorry for yourself is to be expected.

Just allow yourself this time, although try and keep it from your immediate family. Then, pick yourself up, dust yourself down and start over again. You can sing this advice if you like. 😉

Hi @retta I can totally relate to how you feel, it’s been 10 years since my diagnosis but my first relapse in 5 years and I am feeling not only physically unwell but mentally. This site has really helped me not feel so alone and although I have a great family they just don’t seem to understand the severity. I totally agree with @stumble we are all entitled to have times where we can temporarily feel sorry for ourselves but then it’s paramount we dust ourselves off and start again. Stay strong and remember you’re not alone 🙏xx

@retta
Hi just a thought, but the steroids might be playing havoc with your mood.
Hopefully it’ll start to lift once it’s done it’s job.
Feel free to off load on here, but keep a sense of humour, laughter is the best medicine.
Keep smiling!
