How to get over it

This week I’ve been with my older brother as he is doing his Lemtrada treatment and we are on day 3 at the moment. So far so good.

Not a lot of people know about his ms from my friends and no one knows why I’m here for a week with him. Just said I’m visiting.
I don’t feel like I have to tell anyone either, none of their business.

Do you guys tell your friends?

I just don’t think I can go back home and get over the process.

I don’t find the process scary but it’s kinda draining both for him that’s going through this process and for me.

Thought of going back to work and just live my normal life and pretend like nothing ever happened is kinda sad.

@m1b4 , the decision to tell, or not to tell, is not yours to make. That’s down to your Brother.

It will be a great help to your Brother if normality is restored. That will be what he wants. He would probably be devastated if he thought his condition was having such a negative impact on you.

So, grit your teeth and get on with life. That will be a positive support for him.

Hello @m1b4. You have to live your normal life, just as your brother has to live the new ‘normal’ vesrsion of his life which, of course, he never asked for. Be guided by what his needs are and, you’ve done a great thing on coming on here to seek counsel. You would visit your brother for many reasons, I’m sure. You don’t need to tell anyone if you don’t want to, don’t feel bad about it. I have told a limited few people. But I don’t want my MS to be my defining feature. Your brother is lucky he has you for support and care, he couldn’t ask for more. Feel free to post any questions you have, now or in future x
