@tomwilkins hi new guy 😉 and welcome to this brilliant site. Asking for advice is what it’s all about… so no need to worry! I can’t help with drop foot but I’ve added ‘symptoms’ to the categories below your post, you may want to add others? Hopefully @stumbler will have some good advice for you, he’s super helpful…

Hi @tomwilkins have a look at
https://www.dorset-ortho.com/en/patient-services/orthotics/safo-silicone-ankle-foot-orthosis-dorset-orthopaedic/

There may be something similar available in Canada, it’s a silicon AFO

Hi @tomwilkins, welcome to Shift, glad you found it. One thing that might help; a white plastic stool to keep in there. Whilst you shower, at least you can rest your legs and, if knackered afterwards, you can just sit there some more (try and keep a big towel handy so you don’t get chilly) 🙂

You can find these transfer benches on Amazon.

@tomwilkins , I have to write something after the mention above.

You really need some help from other Canadian members to provide specific National knowledge. You really need your bathroom converted to a wetroom, to get rid of the step up. I don’t know whether you could finance this yourself or whether there’s any assistance for this type of requirement.

@stumbler I do have resources insurance and I’m meeting a outfit called ability New Brunswick next week , from my stand point it seems Canada is way behind even my crutches aka Canadian crutches are made in Germany and nearest distributor is in Florida . Sorry if I ramble on a bit

Thankfully my shower has a very little lip (less than 1″) so is really a zero entry and I don’t have this issue but do for simple things like putting on pants! they say “everyone puts on their pants one leg at a time”…but some struggle so much more than others I always think ;-0

There is a little device someone at church showed me that is like one of those handles you get for an invisible dog…it is a stiff leash with a loop at the end….she has one and can just reach down with it to grab her foot to lift it. I was considering getting one for the days my foot is harder to reach than others! may set something like that or hang it in the shower?

@tomwilkins , good luck with Ability New Brunswick. I hope they can help find a solution.

Feel free to ramble. it’s very therapeutic and we understand your reasons for doing it. 😉
